Linda Maki, 62, of Pierre, died Wednesday, May 2 at her home in Pierre. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 6 at the First United Methodist Church
Linda Lou Metzger was born December 10, 1949 to Albert and Lorraine (Rau) Metzger in Eureka, SD. She grew up in Eureka and graduated from high school in 1968. Linda attended vocational school in Minneapolis where she studied data processing. She met and married Laverne Wagner in Eureka in 1971. To this union, two children were born, Lynn and Layne. They lived in Minneapolis for a short time then moved to Pierre. Linda married Ron Maki on October 14, 1995 in Las Vegas. She worked for the State of South Dakota for over thirty years where she enjoyed the friendships that developed over the years. She and Ron enjoyed spending time at home with the cats; Linda especially loved spending time in the yard and gardening. She was a giving person and volunteered for Hospice and the Humane Society. Linda is survived by her husband, Ron, of Pierre; two sons: Lynn of Pierre and Layne of Detroit, MI; two step-sons: Eric (Leova) Maki of Lake Tahoe and Jason (Jackie) Maki of Sioux Falls; granddaughter, Elise Maki; mother, Lorraine Metzger of Eureka; brother, Gary (Sue) Metzger of Eureka; two sisters: Margie (Bob) Gentry of Colorado Springs and Sara (Jim ) Freiday of Big Lake, MN; and aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents and her mother-in-law, Velma Maki.
