Bonnie Unruh, 75, of Ft. Pierre died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Tuesday, May 22 at Isburg Funeral Chapel, followed by a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 23 at River Center Church with Pastor Dallas McKinley officiating. Burial will be at Onida Cemetery.
Bonnie Carroll was born on November 25, 1936 to Joseph and Ruth (Huehl) Carroll in Pierre. She grew up in Pierre where she attended Riggs High School, graduating in 1954.
She met Jacob Unruh on a blind date and they married June 17, 1954. To this union, four children were born: Norma, Lewis, Willard and David. Bonnie and Jacob raised their family in the Onida and Pierre area. Family was very important and she kept in touch with family members, even attending the family reunions in Montana every two years.
Bonnie was a stay at home mom but she was always involved in Jacob’s freight business. She was active in the Open Bible church and River Center church. She enjoyed baking, loved to decorate cakes and was an excellent fudge chef. Christmas was a joyful time, filled with goodies, candies and calories. Her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and their activities were deeply important to her. She even mastered Facebook to keep in closer contact with those she loved. She was always teaching and learning.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma Unruh of Pierre; son, David (Jody) Unruh of Ft. Pierre; grandchildren: Cara, Tom, Andy, Johni, David and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Sarah, David John, Jacob, Joseph, Jude and Abbygail; two brothers: Kenneth Carroll of Pierre and Leslie Carroll of Mohave Valley, AZ; three sisters: Verna Deal of Pierre, Ruth Ellen Cooley of Spokane, WA and Ina Bogdanski of Clune, PA; special aunt, Mildred Urquhart of Pierre; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, who was the love of her life; two infant sons: Lewis and Willard; her parents and grandparents; and three brothers, Larry, Leland and Loren Carr
